I finally did it and used one of those Java lake ripple effect applets on a page. When I saw the picture I took of the Ford Parkway bridge to the right, it made me think of this common image trick. I sought out a freeware version of the applet and whipped this together in a few minutes.
Cropping and cleaning up the image in Photoshop took longer then putting it into the web page. Adding the applet entails adding one line of code with attributes into the HTML and it's done.
