font   So, did I scare you? Ugly isn't it? How about that title? it's the end result after a whole sunday sitting at my laptop with nothing but Adobe Photoshop and a HTML editor. And no, that's not Norwegian above. I realized that Black text (see the font?), much less any other color text would barely be readable against the tiled green tile background. I was just randomly hitting keys to draw out a table (rectangle) with a white background. I wish more people would think of that when using a tiled background.
How about that graphic on top? It's sort of cool looking if you realize the things I learned to do it. First I learned how to manipulate the text more. Creating the 3D effect, complete with shading and shadows.
The coolest trick I learned was to keep the background of the sign transparent so you can see the lines of the tiled background instead of a big rectangle like the GIF actually is. With Photoshop that really isn't such a feat in and of its self. The cool part is there is no white halo around the edge of the picture, I properly anti-aliased the green background color. It doesn't look like it's made up of pixels.

No green anti-aliasing.
Yucky default white background anti-aliasing above. Notice the white halos and the washed out lettering on top. On the properly anti-aliased sign the letters on top stand out more, and no halos.

Here's the green background anti-aliased sign but on a yellow background. You can see the greenish pixels around it's edges.
